이 연구는 제7차 특수학교 교육과정 중 국민공통 기본 교육과정의 적정성을 평가하고 교육과정의 효율적인 적용 여부를 알아보기 위해 특수학교와 특수학급의 교사 200명을 대상으로 설문조사를 한 연구이다. 연구결과를 보면 교과별로 다소 차이는 있으나 전체적으로 교육 내용 양이 많고 내용 난이도가 높으며 학생들의 능력차가 심하여 교과지도에 어려움이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또, 개별화 수업에 필요한 조건으로 양질의 교수-학습 보조 자료와 학생의 능력에 적합한 다양한 교과서 구비를 꼽았다. 교육과정 재구성에 대하여 특수학교 교사들은 대부분 재구성의 필요성을 느끼고 있고, 학교와 학생의 특성에 맞는 수업 운영을 위해서 재구성하고 있으며, 주로 사용하는 재구성 방법은 내용축약인 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구 결과를 바탕으로 차후 교육과정 개정에서는 교과별 학습 내용의 양과 난이도를 적정하게 조정하여 학습자의 학습 부담을 경감시키고, 각 교과의 내용 선정과 학습활동 구성에 있어 장애영역별 특성이 반영되도록 하며, 양질의 교수-학습 보조 자료와 학생의 능력에 적합하게 재구성된 다양한 교과서를 개발보급하는 것이 필요함을 제언한다.
This study was to evaluate the adaption of the national common basic curriculum in the 7th special school curriculum and the presence of its restructuring. The survey was performed to 200 teachers in the special schools and special classrooms. The result of this study showed that teachers has difficulties in teaching subject matters because they have in general much more contents to teach which were in high difficulty level and their students have serious individual difference in their abilities, even though there are somewhat difference in every subject matter. The requisite conditions for individual lesson were found to be a qualified teaching-learning assisted materials and provision of various textbooks suited for the students' abilities. The special school teachers had the necessity to restructure the curriculum and managed the lesson with the restructured curriculum suited for the characteristics of schools and students. The restructuring methods mainly used was the summarization of the contents. The suggestions based on the result of the study were made, that the content amount of each subject matter and its difficulty level should be properly adjusted to lessen the students' loads in the revision of the next curriculum, that the characteristics of each disability category should be reflected as each subject matter is selected and learning activities are organized, and that it should be provided qualified teaching-learning aids and various textbooks restructured properly to be fit for each student's ability.
