이 논문의 목적은 자기서사진단검사도구의 문항설정을 위한 전제들을 점검하고 진단서사를 검토하는 것이었다. 논의의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 이번 논의의 가장 중요한 성과는 뭐니 뭐니 해도 열여섯 개 서사영역 각각을 진단하는 데 필요한 진단서사를 서사영역별로 하나씩 선정한 것이고, 또한 서사 전개의 결과 인간관계의 주체가 궁극적인 성공에 이르고 있는 건강한 서사를 선정하여 진단서사의 기준으로 내세운 것이었다. 부모가르기서사의 <간 뺏길 뻔한 전처 아들>, 부모밀치기서사의 <해와 달이 된 오누이>, 부모되찾기서사의 <내 복에 산다>, 부모감싸기서사의 <효불효 다리>, 이성가르기서사의 <역적 누명과 회초리>, 이성밀치기서사의 <여우 구슬>, 이성되찾기서사의 <여색 멀리하는 신하 깨우친 임금>, 이성감싸기서사의 <여인과 목욕하고 금부처가 된 남자>, 배우자가르기서사의 <고부곡어황천>, 배우자밀치기서사의 <호랑이 눈썹>, 배우자되찾기서사의 <지네 각시>, 배우자감싸기서사의 <도량 넓은 남편>, 자녀가르기서사의 <지붕에 소 올리기>, 자녀밀치기서사의 <칠십생남비오자>, 자녀되찾기서사의 <복 빌린 나무꾼>, 자녀감싸기서사의 <장모가 된 며느리> 등이 그것이다. 둘째, 다음으로 중요한 성과는 선정된 진단서사를 나(self)와 세상(world), 법칙(principle)과 소망(desire), 확신(confidence)과 의혹(doubt), 추구(pursue)와 초극(transcendence) 등의 개념 체계에 따라 분석한 것이다. 예컨대 부모가르기서사의 <간 뺏길 뻔한 전처 아들>의 경우 인간관계의 주체로 부각될 수 있는 인물은 전처 아들이고, 대상으로 주목할 인물은 계모인데, 전처 아들의 주요한 관심은 모진 ‘세상’과 엄숙한 ‘법칙’이고, 계모를 대하는 시선에는 ‘확신’이 있으며, 계모와의 관계를 통하여 기존 가치를 ‘추구’하는 태도를 견지하고 있다는 것과 같은 것이다. 셋째, 또 하나 중요한 성과는 선정된 진단서사들을 모두 여섯 개의 단락으로 정리하여 동일한 기준과 비중으로 문항을 설정할 수 있는 여건을 마련해 놓았다는 것이다. 서사 전개의 구체적인 장면에서 생겨나는 세부 사항들에 얽매이지 않으면서 대체로 비슷한 국면에 초점을 맞추어 줄거리를 정리한 것은 장차 마련할 문항들을 위해서도 반드시 필요한 일이기 때문이다.

The purpose of this paper is to examine the diagnostic epics in order to establish problem items for the epic of self test. The results of this paper are as follows. Self and world, principle and desire, confidence and doubt, pursue and transcendence are those systematic concepts. Third, another important fruit of this paper is arranging the diagnostic epics into six paragraphs. On this base we will be able to establish problem items for the epic of self test.
