본고는 역사적 기록을 소재로 한 역사소설 중에서, 특히 이태준과 김탁환의 소설을 대상으로, 황진이 소재가 갖는 특수성, 근대와 주체의 문제가, 섹슈얼리티와 연루될 때 야기되는 모종의 선택과 봉합을 해석함으로써 ‘근대’를 문제화하는 시각을 살펴보았다. 이태준의 소설 황진이는 ‘유혹하는 섹슈얼리티를 정체성으로 하는 기생의 행동서사’와, ‘내면과 진정성을 지닌 근대주체의 정당성’을 최초로 분열의 형식으로나마, 일관성있게 연결되어야하는 숙제로 제공했다. 그의 소설이 역사적 기록과 행위서사를 선택하면서, 섹슈얼리티와 주체성의 분열을 성적 자기결정의 주체와 문화적 교양의 가치를 통해 정당화하는 방식을 택했다면, 김탁환의 나, 황진이는 섹슈얼리티와 남성편력으로 채워진 행위서사의 주체를 지우는 방식을 선택한다. 이는 이태준의 경우 1930년대 후반 근대적 비전의 보루로 갖고있던 문화적 민족주의라는 시대해석과 닿아있고, 김탁환의 경우 근대소설 혹은 근대적 사실이 풍속과 이념으로 분열되는 것이, 근대주체의 해체욕망과 짝을 짓고 있다는 것으로 보았다. 특히 김탁환의 경우 ‘근대주체’ 해체에의 욕망이 역설적이게도 ‘목소리’로 전체를 일관하는 ‘절대주체’(서화담)를 통해 견지되고 있다는 점에서, ‘근대를 부정하는 기획의 근대적 방식’을, 근대와 근대의 해체가 마주하는 인식론적 딜레마의 관점에서 살펴보았다. 주제어기생, 황진이, 역사적 기록, 근대 주체, 섹슈얼리티

This thesis studies historical recode(historical reality), sexuality and sexuality in Lee Tae-Jun' {Whang Jin-ie} and Kim Tak-Whan' {I, Whang Jin-ie}. especially this thesis focus on sexuality and modernity, and selection and suture in the text. In Lee Tae-Jun' {Whang Jin-ie}, disruption between sexuality and modern subjectivity is sutured through self-decision in sex and cultural dignity. In Kim Tak-Whan' {I, Whang Jin-ie} eliminate sexuality and her mail sex traveling. Lee's is corresponded with 1930's cultural nationalism, and Kim's is corresponded with deconstruction of modernity and subjectivity.
