Russia has been making a lot of efforts to develop the Far East region of Russia which is impoverished. In 2012 they founded the Far East department, investing capital and implementing various development programs. The economy of Amur Oblast entails various industries such as agriculture, forestry, useful minerals mining, manufacturing, electricity·gas·water production and supply, transportation, communication, construction, retail·wholesale. Especially Amur Oblast is well-known for its highly-developed useful minerals mining work and is capable of producing massive amount of electricity from its hydroelectric power plant. In addition, it is a prime location through which Trans-Siberian Railway(TSR) and Baikal–Amur Mainline(Baikalo-Amurskaya magistral, BAM) pass and in which a huge amount of agricultural goods are being produced, making this region a essential geological point. In order to aim at a possible cooperation between the Republic of Korea and Far East in a multi-dimension manner, it is important to attract public interests not just towards Khabarovsk Krai - an administrative center - or Primorsky Krai, which is directly connected with main harbors but also adjacent regions. Therefore Amur Oblast, currently being relatively underestimated, is the region which has high possibility of cooperation with the Republic of Korea not just in terms of high potential of development but also its role of connecting Far East, Seiberia and three northeastern Chinese provinces altogether.

러시아는 낙후된 극동지역을 개발하기 위해 많은 노력을 하고 있다. 지난 2012년 극동개발부를 창설하고 많은 자본을 투자하며 다양한 발전 프로그램들을 개발, 실행 중에 있다. 아무르 주의 경제는 농업, 임업, 유용광물 채굴, 제조, 전기·가스·수도 생산 및 공급, 운송, 통신, 건설, 도소매업 등 다양한 산업으로 이루어져 있다. 특히 동 지역은 유용광물 채굴업이 발달해 있으며, 대단위 수력발 전소가 건설되어 있어 전력이 매우 풍부하다. 뿐만 아니라 시베리아횡단 철도(TSR)와 바이칼-아무르철도(BAM)가 지나는 교통의 요충지이며, 대규모 농업생산이 이루어지고 있는 등 극동지역에서 매우 좋은 지리적 조건을 갖고 있다. 앞으로 극동지역과 다각적인 협력 가능성을 모색하기 위해서는 극동 행정의 중심지인 하바롭스크 크라이나, 주요 항만들을 직접 접하고 있는 연해주로 한정된 관심 지역을 주변으로 확대시킬 필요가 있다. 그러한 의미에서 상대적으로 저평가 되고 있는 아무르 주야말로 매우 높은 발 전 잠재력을 지닌 지역일 뿐만 아니라 극동지역과 시베리아 지역, 그리 고 중국의 동북3성을 잇는 교두보 역할을 할 수 있는 곳으로 우리와의 협력 가능성이 매우 높은 곳이다.
